The majority of the Lake X property is comprised of pristine and untouched wetlands. The wetlands have formed over time in low lying areas where the groundwater level is at or above the surface of the surrounding landscape, or where there is an underlying strata supporting their formation. The wetlands support an array of birds, crustaceans, amphibians, reptiles and fish, as well as a broad range of vegetation and plant life.
Preservation of the property’s lakes, wetlands and surface waters is carried out by the Foundation through adherence to land best management practices, conservation principles and systematic monitoring. The Foundation is active in the conservation of its wetlands through ongoing management of non-native plants, and the encouragement of native plants to ensure the continued vitality of these resources.
